This verse has been rendered as follows:


And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.

1 Timothy 2:12

With the idea read in this rendering that a woman cannot teach or have authority over a man this passage is significant in the issue of women in leadership or indeed all interactions between men and women.
